DnD Logic

Cost to build a 3 bedroom thatched roof house: 1000 Gold

Cost to hire a 9th Level wizard to cast Secure Shelter and Permanency: (Caster Level 9 x Spell Level 4 x 10 GP = 360 GP) + (CL9xSL4x10GP = 450 GP). Total cost: 810 GP.

Plus with the wizard you get a cottage that sleep 8, has multiple arcane lock, alarm and other security spells included and is as tough as any mason made stone house in whatever material you want it to look like.

I probably shouldn't be arguing economics with an inanimate object...

  1. this vandalism is happening in simulcast on the Facebook...

    "but I have more thoughts...
    1. You must live in a house created by magic...
    2. You must surrender your gold to a despicable mage...
    3. It's made by the filth of magic
    4. You must constantly be in contact with surfaces tainted by magic.
    5. You must TRUST that the dirty mage has not put some manner of trickery into the house so it will disappear or worse when said disgusting piece of filth has been paid and run away like a scared girl.
    6. If you use your sword properly and order the peasants out of their house before you slaughter them, the house will remain relatively clean and furnished... in fact, you can insist that they clean it top to bottom while you are slaughtering their women and raping their cattle... and then the house is in tip top shape for you to sleep there till their/your ale runs out.
    7. If the small folk are to your liking and you would rather not bathe in their blood while drinking their ale and enjoying their daughters... you could always invite them to make your house for you in return for your "protection". With the added benefit of not entirely giving up on the idea of pillaging the village after you've had your way with all the girls and women and swilled all their ale and spirits...

Really Sir J-Dawg the Wizard-lover... Magic is unnatural, dirty and will ruin a good man.. (occasionally a wench could do with some magic to fix up her face or her personality)... but a dwelling made of the stuff? You gotta be kidding me!

Oh, and occasionally weapons enhanced by magic aren't all that bad... so long as you don't have to use any actual magic yourself, or watch the wretched mage doing the unnatural act to said weapon.

And somebody said: "Unnatural act = putting his balls on the hilt?"

To which I replied, " balls on the hilt because the sword tip is protruding through the top of the mage's head... mage-kabob style... nothing unnatural about that! In fact Steinmacher, I rather like that idea. "Mr. DM, I'd like to make a called shot to the magic user's unprotected CHOAD with my +7/+7 widow maker Great Sword named "Relative Ease"" then, I shall come back and brag that I made a "Mage-Kabob" with "Relative Ease" and his balls were indeed on my hilt before I sloughed him off the end of my sword into the ditch where the dogs made a feast of him. The only thing a mage is good for... dog food for the feral dogs... I'd never let my hunting hounds feed on tainted flesh"
